How to open DAISY Books in Thorium Reader
Thorium Reader is a free and open source reading app for Windows 10, MacOS and Linux. It supports EPUB 3 (both reflow and fixed layout), DAISY 3, and PDF documents. For more information see Thorium Reader Getting Started Guide.
To open DAISY books in Thorium Reader follow the steps listed below.
Step 1: Import the Book into Thorium
Option 1: If your DAISY content is in a folder:
- Open Thorium Reader.
- Click on the “Add a publication” (+ icon or “Import a file”).
- Navigate to the folder containing the DAISY files.
- Select the main file: Usually ncc.html, package.opf, or .xml.
- Click Open.
Option 2: If your DAISY book is in a .zip file:
- Click “Add a publication”.
- Select the .zip file that contains the full DAISY book structure.
- Click Open – Thorium will unpack and load the book.
