Less known features of OBI
Some of the less known but very useful features of Obi are described below:
Fully configurable Keyboard shortcuts
To change any Keyboard Shortcut follow these steps:
- Open preferences by either pressing Ctrl+Alt+F or from Tools menu.
- In preferences navigate to Keyboard Shortcuts tab.
- Select the operation for which you need to change the shortcut.
- In shortcut keys select the correct key combination and press “Assign”.
Pre-define structure of book as separate process
You can make structure of the book separately either in XHTML or in CSV/delimited text using Excel and then import it in Obi.

Tools that can convert DAISY 2.02, 3.0 format to other formats

Training materials in Thai Language / support for localization
Obi Localization is very easy. We provide you easy to fill Excel file for translation. The translator needs to provide localized term under translation column. For details on translation please refer to following link:

Ways to see actual wav file in phrase properties.
To see actual wav file in phrase properties follow these steps:
- Open Obi preferences from Tools menu. Keyboard shortcut for opening preferences is CTRL+Alt+F.
- In Project tab of preferences go to the Checkbox list.
- Navigate to Checkbox “Show advance properties in property dialog” and check it.
Now when you open phrase property you will be able to see file name.
Merge Different DAISY format Titles
To merge different projects in Obi you can follow these steps:
- Open File menu and select Merge Project.
- Select the project which you want to merge and press Ok.
- This will open “Merge Project” Dialog with different controls. To know more about controls search “Merging Projects” in Obi Help.
Easy identification of sections without audio, feature similar to Sigtuna
To Highlight sections with no Audio you need to follow these steps:
- Open Obi preferences from Tools menu. Keyboard shortcut for opening preferences is CTRL+Alt+F.
- In Project tab of preferences go to the Checkbox list.
- Navigate to Checkbox “Highlight Empty sections in TOC View” and check it.
Now Background color of empty sections will change to “pink”. If you want you can change this color also from “color and font” tab of preferences. In “color and font” tab navigate to “EmptySectionBackground” and set the color you want.
