Preparing DAISY books for playback on Enhanced Vine Players

Vine Players are economical and simple solar-powered audio book players from Solar Grove Solutions. See the article Vine Player Overview for more information.

Enhanced Vine Players support navigation based on chapters and sub-headings. These players have complex folder structure. Their internal memory is locked. A special cable and application is required to create or copy content on them. Users cannot add or delete content on the internal memory. Once an organisation prepares and copies books on the player, users are not able to make any changes. Vine player models E1, E2 and S2 players are in this category. They are referred as “Enhanced Vine players”.

Books with 3 level navigation

Enhanced Vine Players support navigation by chapters and sub-sections. To be able to do this, it needs audio book to be stored in a very complex folder structure. Fortunately, DAISY Pipeline app can convert DAISY audio book into this complex folder structure. We just have to do this conversion and copy the entire book with its sub-folders on the enhanced Vine player. During conversion, we will choose “depth level 3” in the DAISY Pipeline app. By doing this, we will get following navigation options:

  • Book navigation, such as Book 1, Book 2, Book 3 and so on.
  • Moving to next or previous chapter within every book. Such as, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3 and so on.
  • Moving to next or previous subsection within a chapter. Such as, Chapter 1, Subsection 1.1, Subsection 1.2, Subsection 1.3, Chapter 2, Subsection 2.1, Subsection 2.2, and so on.
  • Moving to next or previous sub-subsections within sub-section. Such as,
    • Chapter 1
      • Sub-section 1.1
      • Subsection 1.2
        • Sub-sub-section 1.2.1
        • Sub-sub-section 1.2.2
      • Sub-section 1.3
    • Chapter 2
      • Sub-section 2.1
        • Sub-sub-section 2.1.1
        • Sub-sub-section 2.1.2

        And so on
