Joining DAISY
Our members are at the heart of the DAISY Consortium. Their support and annual membership fees, set at the General Meeting, are critical for us to continue developing standards, tools, and resources that make reading accessible worldwide.
Membership Levels
DAISY offers a variety of membership levels suitable for everyone:
Full Membership
Full Members are non-profit organizations that produce and/or distribute accessible (multi)media for people with print disabilities.
Individual organizations can become Full Members or membership may be shared among two or more organizations. Several organizations which represent a geographical region or language group may collaborate, combining their resources to become a Full Member. These organizations act and speak with one voice within the DAISY Consortium.
Who should join DAISY as a Full Member:
- organizations with the desire and resources to steer the development and implementation of accessible standards
- organizations dedicated to furthering the worldwide movement toward accessible information for all
- large libraries serving many people with print disabilities
- organizations interested in developing new technologies
- large organizations active in the field of education and of producing accessible (learning) media/materials for all groups of disability
Fees for Full Membership in 2026
- Annual fee: 35,940 USD
- When joining in the second half of a year: 50% of the annual fee (17,970 USD)
Note: Full Memberships become effective on January 1st or July 1st of a calendar year. The admission of Full Members will be decided by resolution of the General Meeting by open ballot; see the DAISY Consortium Articles of Association for details.
Application Process:
Please contact the President/Chairman of the Board or the Chief Executive Officer for additional information about becoming a Full Member or to apply for Full Membership.
Associate Membership
Associate Members of The DAISY Consortium are non-profit organizations that produce and/or distribute accessible media for people with print disabilities or may serve the community in other related ways. This latter group includes large educational institutes wishing to participate in the Consortium at this level, associations representing individuals with a print disability, or other service providers. Associate Members share the Full Members’ dedication to the worldwide DAISY movement but may serve smaller populations or have fewer available resources. Associate Members in developing countries benefit from the Consortium’s tiered membership fee structure which is based on the World Bank classifications (determined by the per capita income of the country).
Who should join DAISY as an Associate Member:
- smaller libraries and organizations which are committed to the Mission and Vision of the DAISY Consortium
- organizations wishing to help shape the direction of the DAISY Consortium
- organizations which want to participate in the DAISY Consortium working groups and technical developments (to the level financially feasible in their organisation)
- libraries and organizations which do not have the financial resources to commit to Full Membership
- universities and colleges, and accessible materials development centres, especially those providing materials to multiple campuses
- libraries and organizations wishing to learn more about the DAISY Consortium with a goal of potentially committing to Full Membership
Associate Members may join at any time during a calendar year. The President will decide as to the admission of Associate Members. See the DAISY Consortium Articles of Association for details.
